Live Painting Update

preview.jpg Here's a new design I completedimage1 today. I started to realize my old cards are pretty dated looking (and almost out, which is a good thing!) So, I created this new design. I used inspiraimage3tion from the paintings I have been doing lately at live painting events. The two paintings here were completed last night at a PHIT Comedy event called "Untitled." The show meshes improv comedy and visual arts. There are artists paintings or drawing on stage while improvisers create scenes based on the artists' previous work. Then the artists create pieces that are inspired by the scenes. It's very cyclical. And cynical. The sets ofimage2 2 paintings were completed start to finish in just under 40 minutes. Yesterday they had a lovely gallery showing afterwards and I sold the farting cardinal and the "Hell is Other People" paintings. Horray!

Flannelpalooza Chuckoachella - Comedy Event

Below are a few shots of my illustration for the comedy event "Flannelpalooza Chuckoachella," a mock-grunge band event in Philadelphia. The illustration was spotted on philly.com, and t-shirts were made. It's always fun to do an illustration and then play "eye-spy" around the city looking for it.Screen Shot 2015-06-14 at 12.22.50 PM Screen Shot 2015-06-14 at 12.36.21 PM FORWEB_flannel_72dpi

Lunchbox Philly Food Truck

For the past few weekends I had been working on a food truck for Lunchbox Philly. Lots of people came up to talk to me about the truck wanting to know about it. The food truck serves different variations of gourmet peanut butter and jelly! mmmm! The truck will be in West Philly and North Philly, as far as I know. Check them out on social media...@LunchboxPhilly Below are some process photos to finish. Enjoy!

The Shining Book Jacket

Shining book coverFinally finished my book cover, about to lay out a sample page from the book. I did all the illustration and text layout for this hardcover book jacket. I love the way the twins came out, and I think the maze motif in the background adds a nice theme to the piece, even though there is no maze in the book! (fun fact!) This book (and movie) are 2 of my favorite pieces of art so I am proud to say that this piece is finished. The idea for it came to me while I was falling asleep and I am happy I woke up to write a cryptic email to myself, reminding me about my color vision and illustration ideas for the project, which haven't changed since that night. I gotta do this more often!

Personal Project: The Shining

The Shining is one of my favorite books and movies. I know they are very different, but I wanted to combine them into one object that I feel would satisfy Kubrick AND King. I assume this to be no small feat, but alas, I will try!

This is a personal project of mine, I don't have copyright to any material, consider it educational purposes. Here is an update of a couple shots I have so far. I will be updating my blog with the finished product, sketches and all.
